John Ebenezer, a humble servant of India teaching Dalit ("untouchable") children with the Touch of Jesus Christ, carries a burning passion for the neglected. This comes from a life of firsthand experience: his own childhood spent as a member of the "untouchable" class, to which he now ministers. The fruit of this experience is a labor of love, which is currently reaching untouched villages with the Way, the Truth and the Life.
India: A land of one billion souls and over three million gods. An average income of under $300 a year, many who are of lower income, particularly the Dalits, have to fend for themselves. The answer to this dilemma is the love of Jesus. John Ebenezer reaches India with that love through church planting, drilling of wells, caring for orphans and the homeless, and more.
The Lord has given John the vision to have a facility to house 1,000 children who were orphans or homeless. He showed John that if he could teach 1,000 children to read and write, bringing them up in the ways of the Lord, God would multiply his fruit. In 10 years the 1,000 children could reach 100 others; thus, 100,000 Indian souls would be brought into the Kingdom of God over 10 years.
There are currently 64 children being fed and taught in the school, all of whom were formerly orphaned or homeless. All the living expenses of each child, including lodging, clothing, education, nurturing, food and water, are able to be covered for only US$35 a month. They live in the compound under the watchful care of John and his caring staff.
Every day, the Indian people living in these rural areas to which John ministers must carry fresh water to their homes in order to survive. This is done by hoisting containers above their head, which weigh forty pounds or more! The drilling of new wells provides thousands with new hope. A new well can be drilled and installed for only US$850. We give them clean water, and then we give them the Living Water of Jesus Christ.
With nearly 30 city churches and over 460 house churches in rural towns, this is a ministry that is bearing much fruit at a rapid pace. Clearly the blessings of God to accelerate and multiply are at work in the lives of the faithful. And it is no surprise that in this bountiful harvest, much has ben sown. John Ebenezer converted and discipled over 100 pastors under his immediate care, and taught them to read and write. He has also seen the hand of God do many miraculous things in the lives of the hungry people of India!
